Šķirošana ir veids, kā sistemātiski sakārtot vienumus. Quicksort ir plaši izmantotais šķirošanas algoritms n log n salīdzinājumi vidējā gadījumā n elementu masīva šķirošanai. Tas ir ātrāks un ļoti efektīvs šķirošanas algoritms. Šis algoritms ievēro 'skaldi un valdi' pieeju. Sadaliet un iekarot ir paņēmiens, kā sadalīt algoritmus apakšproblēmās, pēc tam atrisināt apakšproblēmas un apvienot rezultātus kopā, lai atrisinātu sākotnējo problēmu.

Dalīt: Sadalījumā vispirms izvēlieties pagrieziena elementu. Pēc tam sadaliet vai pārkārtojiet masīvu divos apakšmasīvos tā, lai katrs kreisā apakšmasīva elements būtu mazāks vai vienāds ar rakurelementu un katrs labās puses apakšmasīva elements būtu lielāks par rakursta elementu.
Iekarot: Rekursīvi kārtojiet divus apakšblokus, izmantojot Quicksort.
Apvienot: Apvienojiet jau sakārtoto masīvu.
Quicksort atlasa elementu kā rakursu un pēc tam sadala doto masīvu ap izvēlēto rakursta elementu. Ātrajā kārtošanā liels masīvs tiek sadalīts divos masīvos, no kuriem vienā ir vērtības, kas ir mazākas par norādīto vērtību (rakurss), bet citā masīvā ir vērtības, kas ir lielākas par rakursu.
Pēc tam kreisais un labais apakšmasīvs tiek sadalīts, izmantojot to pašu pieeju. Tas turpināsies, līdz viens elements paliek apakšmasīvā.
Rakursa izvēle
Laba rakursa izvēle ir nepieciešama, lai ātri ieviestu ātro kārtošanu. Tomēr ir raksturīgi noteikt labu pagriezienu. Daži no šarnīra izvēles veidiem ir šādi:
- Rakurss var būt nejaušs, t.i., atlasiet nejaušo pagriezienu no dotā masīva.
- Rakurss var būt dotā masīva vistālāk kreisā elementa galējais labais elements.
- Kā pagrieziena elementu atlasiet mediānu.
